Dear First Time Exchange Author

Genre thoughts:  I love both the fluffiest of fluff and the smuttiest of smut.  I don’t expect to see both in the same fic, but if you can make it work, power to you.  I have a complicated relationship with angst - it’s fine if there’s some there, but I prefer it conclude with a happy ending.  Given that I have multiple fandoms that include teenagers, please make sure everyone is 18+ - and that it’s made clear in the fic - if there’s going to be any smut.

Character death thoughts: Permanently killing a main character is a big fat DNW for me.  Refe rencing the death of a minor character is okay, as long as it’s not a primary plot point.  Basically - fic opens at a funeral or passing reference to someone that died before the events of the story, okay.  Minor character dying in the middle of the story, DNW.  Temporary character death is okay, as long as the resurrection occurs at the end of the story.  Fix-it option for any characters dead in canon.

Pregnancy/kid fics: Yes please.  I adore all sorts of kid fics.  While I’m okay with mpreg as a general concept, I don’t want to see it in every fandom or with every ship, and don’t think it fits with my requests this time around.

SFW DNWS: on screen-death of any character, permanent death of a major character, angsty endings

NSFW DNWS: dub-con/non-con, extreme kink, body fluids not meant to be involved in sex

The Defenders

Matt Murdock/Franklin “Foggy” Nelson (both virgins), Matt Murdock/Franklin “Foggy” Nelson (virgin Foggy), Matt Murdock/Franklin “Foggy” Nelson (virgin Matt)

I feel like I put a good mix of freeforms to apply to any of the three virgin scenarios.  I’d love to see something set in college, though I’d also be good with something that is set after Foggy finds out that Matt is Daredevil.

Doctor Who

The Doctor/Jack Harkness/Rose Tyler (virgin Rose), The Doctor/Rose Tyler (virgin Rose)

My thinking is that the Doctor is Nine for the triad and Ten for the duo, but I’m open if you have ideas that are the other way around.  I’ve got a couple tags in there where for the triad, it could simply just be Rose’s first time with more than one partner.  There’s also tags that would make it her first time period.  No infidelity - either Rose and Mickey have broken up or it’s an AU where she never dated him.  You don’t need to explicitly state which.

For either the triad or a duo, I could see a near-death experience being the catalyst to take that next step.

Harry Potter

Draco Malfoy/Charlie Weasley (virgin Draco)

There’s a seven-year age gap between these two, so this is where I see the age of consent freeform coming into play.  Draco’s been trying to seduce Charlie for months and he keeps turning Draco down because he doesn’t feel like getting murdered by Lucius and Narcissa for corrupting their son, especially since they’re already not going to like the fact that he’s a Weasley.  Then on Draco’s birthday, when he’s old enough to legally consent, Charlie finally gives in.  This would need to be an AU where is in England instead of Romania at that period of time.  It could be for Order of the Phoenix business, or maybe he’s teaching Care of Magic Creatures instead of Hagrid (in which case there’s another set of issues unless Draco’s not in his class), or anything else you want to come up with.

If you set it after the books where Draco is older, some of the “assumed to have experience but is actually a virgin” tags come into play.  Or Draco’s been with women, but Charlie is the first man he’s with.   I still see Draco being the one to pursue Charlie, as Charlie just sees him as “that kid what went to school with Ron” even when Draco is well into his twenties.  Bonus points if Draco pulls out the “you know my name means Dragon” card.

Neville Longbottom/Ginny Weasley (both virgins)

This could be an AU where Ginny being Neville’s date to the Yule Ball leads to the relationship, or maybe they start hooking up during “Deathly Hallows,” or maybe it happens shortly after the war.  Any scenario, I see it as exploration where neither of them really knows what they’re doing.  And since Hogwarts doesn’t appear to have any sort of sex-ed, the sheltered teen prompt could come into play on this one.

Sirius Black/Remus Lupin (both virgins), Sirius Black/Remus Lupin (virgin Remus)

This is where the adults in canon, lose virginity as teens freeform comes into play.  Alternately, you could also make it so they get together after Sirius breaks free from Azkaban.

This is one of the fandoms where I’m good with mpreg - I assume that it’s just a known fact that male wizards can get pregnant - so the sheltered teen freeform could apply if you set it during their teenage years.  Logistically it would be easier to make Sirius the one pregnant, because there’s no concern over the impact of Remus shifting on the full moon every month, but given this is a magic world, it can be handwaved away to not be an issue “because magic.”

I see the self-conscious about their body freeform potentially applying to Remus.

Percy Weasley/Oliver Wood (both virgins), Percy Weasley/Oliver Wood (virgin Oliver), Percy Weasley/Oliver Wood (virgin Percy)

This is one of my favorite pairings across all fandoms, so you can pretty much do no wrong.

Both Virgins:  My headcanon is that they started dating at 13 and they were the only two Gryffindor boys their age, so they had plenty of time to experiment unsupervised.  This is where the losing virginity in very early puberty comes into play.  Sheltered teen and mpreg could also come into play here - I have no preference on which one would be pregnant, though Oliver being pregnant could raise a few extra eyebrows because every assumes the burly jock is the one topping.

Another option is that they get together sometime after the books, where both have been with women, but it’s the first time either has been with a man.

Virgin Oliver: Oliver never got around to losing his virginity while at Hogwarts.  He’s not into groupies, so he just doesn’t date while playing professional Quidditch.  He and Percy reconnect at some point - either after Oliver retires or later in his career - and Percy - who can count his sexual partners on one hand - is shocked that Oliver is still a virgin.

Virgin Percy: Percy never loses his virginity at Hogwarts because that would have violated about a dozen different rules.  Then he’s too busy trying to prove himself at the Ministry to pursue a relationship and also assumes that no one would be interested anyway because he’s all pale and scrawny and ginger.  Then Oliver comes crashing back into his life and showers Percy with affection and shows him what he’s been missing all these years.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

James “Bucky” Barnes/Steve Rogers (both virgins), James “Bucky” Barnes/Steve Rogers (virgin Steve)

This is another of my top pairings across all fandoms.  Whether you go with both virgins or just Steve being a virgin, please set in in the late 1930s/early 1940s before Bucky goes to war and before Steve gets the serum.

For the has had M/F but first time M/M tag, this would apply to Bucky only.  Bucky is Steve’s only partner before the serum.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

Kimberly Hart/Tommy Oliver (both virgins), Kimberly Hart/Tommy Oliver (virgin Kim), Kimberly Hart/Tommy Oliver (virgin Tommy)

Both virgins: I see this as happening within the canon of MMPR before Kim goes to Florida - or an AU where she never leaves.  Sheltered teen could apply here - it appears they wait until Senior year to have any sort of sex ed, and I assume that the MMPR Seasons 1-3 and Zeo each correspond to one year of high school.  (Canon’s a little murky because Trini was driving in season 1, but I ignore that part with my headcanon).

Virgin Kim:  They split up - either as per canon or some other explanation because I hate The Letter with a passion.  Kim was focused on gymnastics and sex wasn’t on her mind.  Tommy has some experience - either with Kat or someone else.  They get back together and sex happens.  If you include Tommy/Kat in between Tommy and Kim splitting up and getting back together, please do not make getting back with Kim the reason that Tommy breaks up with Kat.

Virgin Tommy:  Again they split up either as per canon or some other explanation.  Kim sleeps with someone while she’s in Florida.  Tommy never took that step.  They get back together and sex happens.  Again, if you include Tommy/Kat in between Tommy and Kim splitting up and getting back together, please do not make getting back with Kim the reason that Tommy breaks up with Kat.

Rocky DeSantos/Adam Park (both virgins), Rocky DeSantos/Adam Park (virgin Adam), Rocky DeSantos/Adam Park (virgin Rocky)

Both virgins: This plays perfectly into my headcanon where they start dating in eighth grade and are never with anyone else.

Another option is that they get together later - either towards the end of high school during Zeo or after both have given up their powers - and one or both has been with women, but it’s the first time either has been with a man.

Virgin Adam:  Rocky dates throughout high school - either all girls or a mix of girls and guys - and possibly also college depending on when you get him and Adam together.  He sleeps with at least one of these relationships.  Adam doesn’t really date and is a still virgin when he and Rocky get together.

Virgin Rocky: Rocky dates a lot of different people but isn’t with any one them long enough to take that next step.  Adam’s had one or two long-term seriously relationships where that step was taken.  Tanya can be one of Adam’s past-relationships, as long as the break-up is amicable and not because of Rocky.  You can also make a past relationship with another guy.

Smallville

Clark Kent/Lex Luthor (virgin Clark)

When the show starts, Lex is 21 and Clark is assumed to be 14, as he’s just starting high school.  I starting shipping Clex really early on in watching the show and was going “Lex is counting the days until that boy turns 18 because he doesn’t want to give Jonathan Kent another reason to hate him.”

Even though Clark is the only virgin in this scenario, a couple of the tags can be used to reflect that for Lex, sleeping with Clark is different that his past relationships and/or one night stands.

Star Trek: Alternate Original Series

James T. Kirk/Leonard “Bones” McCoy (virgin Bones)

This can be the AU where they meet as teens.  Or it can be set within canon where Bones either a) has been with women but not men or b) didn’t actually consummate his marriage with his ex-wife and is actually still a virgin.  (I know he has a daughter in the TOS, but as far as I remember AOS never mentioned her, so do with that what you wish).

James T. Kirk/Leonard “Bones” McCoy/Spock (virgin Spock)

Kirk & Bones are an established relationship and bring Spock into things either as a one-night stand or a long-term thing.  For Spock, it can be first time poly, first time with a man, or just first time period.

James T. Kirk/Spock (virgin Kirk), James T. Kirk/Spock (virgin Spock)

The AU where they meet as teens could apply here.  For virgin Kirk, I really like the idea of him cultivating this ladies man, everything with a pulse persona to hide the fact that he’s still a virgin.  Virgin Spock is a little more self-explanatory.

Star Wars Original Trilogy

Luke Skywalker/Han Solo (either virgin)

In my own writings, I tend to think of Luke as the virgin and Han as experienced with both men and women.  Though this was the only Luke/Han tag, so I’m open to seeing the roles reversed.  I think the freeforms give a good mix for whichever way you want to take things.  Between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back probably makes for a good launching point.

Star Wars Sequel Trilogy

Poe Dameron/Armitage Hux (virgin Poe), Poe Dameron/Armitage Hux (virgin Hux), Poe Dameron/Armitage Hux (both virgins)

I see all of this being before the movies when they’re young and stupid and the First Order isn’t a threat yet.  Probably not the healthiest of relationships either.

Poe Dameron/Finn (virgin Finn)

If you want to take things a little darker, the experienced a lot of non/dubcon tag could be used for Finn’s time as a stormtrooper where sex was used as a means of control.  References are fine, but please don’t depict “on screen.”

All the fluffy gentle first time stuff also applies to these two because Poe is so far gone for Finn.

Stargate Atlantis

Rodney McKay/John Sheppard (virgin Rodney), Evan Lorne/Rodney McKay (virgin Rodney), Carson Beckett/Rodney McKay (virgin Rodney)

I’m lumping these three together, because I see it pretty much the same way regardless of who Rodney is with.  He was so focused on science and his career and being the smartest that sex was just something he never got around to.  It gets out and everyone is all “wait, what, never?”

Alternatively, he’s been with one or two women (probably only once or twice each) and this is his first time with a man.
