Zeo Time Paradox
I have 21k words written of this so far, but some of it definitely needs to be reworked. I have a bad habit of writing out of order as I get inspired with no outline and I definitely have parts of this story that contradict each other.
The main premise of this story is that when Aisha stayed in Africa during the Zeo Quest, it creates a new reality that is very different than the one the Rangers left behind. The Zeo Rangers need to balance learning about the new timeline with fighting the Machine Empire. They are forced to reveal their identities to Adam's younger brother Franklin in order to manage this, and Franklin becomes the Blue Turbo Ranger after Rocky's back injury. Justin will probably still be part of the story somehow, just not as a Ranger.
A lot of what I have written so far is Adam-centric because his life gets turned upside down the most. This ends up culminating in a suicide attempt when he uses his broken morpher in "Always a Chance." This causes a shit-ton of drama, including Franklin accusing Carlos of never having been worthy of being a Ranger in the first place. I have a scene written where Andros is debating whether to give Carlos his morpher back or give it to someone else, but I haven't decided what he's going to do yet.
Jason is the other character that I've played with a lot so far, as he and Adam date for part of the story. After they break up, I take the fact that Jason appeared to be looking right at Eric when he talked about knowing some Rangers better than others in Forever Red and run with it. He and Eric start as casual hook-ups, which develops to a serious relationship by the time Eric pops up in Time Force, which means he's probably slightly less of a dick.
One thing that's always bothered me in Time Force, is that Alex - Wes's descendant - is the one that informs the others that Wes had died in the final battle when they get back to 3000. If Wes died in 2001, Alex should have ceased to exist unless Wes already had a child. Parts of this story probably were already bordering on crack, so I decided to make a left turn into totally cracktastic and decide that Wes has a secret child that he didn't know about because his father paid the mother to give the child up for adoption and disappear and of course that kid grows up to be a Ranger. And because the Dino-centric seasons are all near and dear to my heart, that secret child is one Riley Griffin. Dino Charge is supposed to be an alternative universe from the other seasons, but I'm just throwing that part out the window here.
One major driving point of plot at the start of the story is that while the Zeo Rangers and Billy know about the time travel paradox, and that a lot of shit is different, Jason, Trini, and Zack don't. This ends up creating a rift between Trini & Zack and the others as they view them as "not really our friends." They'll reconcile later, but I don't know when or how yet. I have two ideas I'm toying with as an explanation - one is that only people that know the timeline changed remember the old one, in which Kimberly doesn't know - or that having a connection to a ninja coin the Zeo Crystal means retaining memories of the old timeline, meaning Kimberly does know. Aisha doesn't find everything out until much later when she returns to the United States because the others vow not to tell her anything so she doesn't feel guilty, given that it's her actions that create the paradox.
There's a lot of plot that I still have to determine, but I do have some major relationship stuff mapped out:
-Adam and Rocky were dating in the old timeline; after the Paradox Adam has a different boyfriend, who he ultimately breaks up with; Adam dates Jason for a few years before ending up back with Rocky
-In the reality that was created by the Paradox, Jason & Adam dated, breaking up before Jason left for the Peace Conference, something Jason remembers, but Adam doesn't. After Jason comes home and becomes the Gold Ranger, they start dating, staying together until shortly after Adam's suicide attempt. Jason meets Eric in a gay bar, they start hooking up, and become serious shortly before Eric returns to Silver Hills. They end up getting married and have three kids, using Taylor as a surrogate because I do enjoy her interactions with Eric and don't want to lose that completely.
-Tommy & Kim do break up, though I haven't worked out the details yet. It will depend on whether she remembers the old timeline or not. Tommy then dates Kat, and they amicably part ways after giving up the Turbo powers. Tommy starts dating Hayley while she's building his Ranger tech for him and then end up getting married and having kids.
-Zack & Trini start dating while at the Peace Conference. Feeling like a third wheel is part of why Jason leaves.
-Wes and Eric hooked up while they were prep school classmates, with Eric ending the relationship when he drops out. Wes & Jen occurs as in canon. He ultimately ends up with Kat.
-Not sure how much the Dino Thunder rangers will appear, but Conner and Kira start dating sometime during the season.
-Still working out the when and how of them getting together, but the Dino Charge couples are Riley/Chase and Ivan/Tyler.
