Dear Extreme Timed Challenge Author
Jun. 14th, 2023 11:37 pmThank you so much for writing for me. I’m excited to see what you come up with.
Genre thoughts: I love both the fluffiest of fluff and the smuttiest of smut. I don’t expect to see both in the same fic, but if you can make it work, power to you. I have a complicated relationship with angst - it’s fine if there’s some there, but I prefer it conclude with a happy ending. Given that I have multiple fandoms that include teenagers, please make sure everyone is 18+ - and that it’s made clear in the fic - if there’s going to be any smut.
Character death thoughts: Permanently killing a main character is a big fat DNW for me. Refe rencing the death of a minor character is okay, as
long as it’s not a primary plot point. Basically - fic opens at a funeral or passing reference to someone that died before the events of the story, okay. Minor character dying in the middle of the story, DNW. Temporary character death is okay, as long as the resurrection occurs at the end of the story. There’s a couple characters that are dead in canon, so that gives you one fix-it option.
Pregnancy/kid fics: Yes please. I adore all sorts of kid fics. While I’m okay with mpreg as a general concept, I don’t want to see it in every fandom or with every ship, so I’ll mention where I’m good with it under the request specific info.
SFW DNWS: on screen-death of any character, permanent death of a major character, angsty endings
Harry Potter
Ginny Weasley/Neville Longbottom
This is my favorite “screw canon” pairing. I thought them going to the Yule Ball together was adorable and I would love to see that built upon to becoming an actual relationship.
Marcus Flint/Oliver Wood
This is pretty much classic enemies to lovers trope. They hated each other at Hogwarts because they were supposed to but then they get out into the world and realize the other isn’t all that bad.
Marcus Flint/Percy Weasley
Percy is my favorite and this is a guilty pleasure pairing for me. One thing I do not want to see is any cruelty on Marcus’s part or Percy feeling coerced into a relationship. Despite any public antagonism at Hogwarts, these are two men that actually care about each other.
I’m good with either a secret relationship while they’re at Hogwarts or something where they get together as adults. If you want to include Oliver knowing and thinking Percy is nuts, that would be a nice bonus.
Percy introducing Marcus to the Weasley clan and none of them being sure how to react would be awesome too.
Marcus Flint/Oliver Wood/Percy Weasley
This is another guilty pleasure. I’m assuming that two are together first and bring in the third. Percy/Oliver bringing in Marcus probably makes the most sense, but I’m open to the other alternatives.
Oliver Wood/Percy Weasley
My OTP. My headcanon is that they dated all through Hogwarts (we’ll just ignore that pesky canon girlfriend thing), so I’d love to see one of those little moments.
Marvel Cinematic Universe
Carol Danvers & Maria Rambeau
I’d love to see a moment between these too set before Captain Marvel. Or maybe something between them after the movie because I refuse to believe that Carol never came back to Earth at all between 1995 and 2018.
Carol Danvers & Monica Rambeau
WandaVision established that there’s issues between Carol and Monica, so I’d like to see either the falling out or the reconciliation be explored before The Marvels goes and invalidates it all anyway.
Carol Danvers/Nick Fury
At the beginning of Endgame, when the screen is showing people that were victims of the snap, look at Carol’s face when they show Fury. This is someone she clearly cares a lot about.
Did they hook up in the 90s before she left Earth again? Have they been in a two-decade long super-long distance relationship? Or did Carol leave her feelings to herself until it appeared to be too late? I’d also love to see something with them reunited as we don’t actually see them interact in Endgame. Or maybe the Fury that we see in Endgame is already Talos and the real Fury was hanging out in space with Carol the whole time.
I’m okay with a fic for this pairing being canon-compliant for Endgame as long as there’s not a significant focus on any of the deaths.
Carol Danvers/Steve Rogers
I see this as the Captains hooking up out of convenience between The Snap and The Blip because the people they actually want aren’t there. (I’m assuming Fury and Bucky, but I’m open to other interpretations.)
Howard Stark/James “Bucky” Barnes/Steve Rogers
I have a few ideas here:
1) Steve and Bucky were a couple before the war, and bring Howard into the relationship
2) Steve starts a secret relationship with Howard - Bucky, who had never thought about Steve that way before gets jealous. The three men eventually come to an agreement.
3) AU: Bucky and Steve were a couple before the war. After Bucky falls, Steve seeks comfort in Howard. Steve does not crash the plane and he and Howard continue their relationship in secret when they come home after the war. They learn that Bucky is still alive when Hydra sends him to kill Howard. They are able to break Bucky free of his programming and when the dust settles, it becomes a three-way relationship, because Steve can’t give either of them up.
4) AU: Steve still crashes the plane, but Howard finds him much sooner. Howard had always suspected that Hydra had tested one of Zola’s attempts to replicate the serum on Bucky, so when Steve survived at the bottom of the ocean, he convinces himself that Bucky survived the fall. Howard and Steve move heaven and Earth to get Bucky back and bring him home.
5) Present Day: Steve gets angry about the “went into the ice a virgin” jokes and makes a comment about how he had threesomes all the time during the war. Tony is horrified in a “oh my god please stop talking about my father’s sex life” way when he figures out who Steve was having those threesomes with.
6) Non-Superhero AU: Howard is a single father. He hires Bucky to help his son Tony learn how to defend himself as the boy gets relentlessly bullied over being smarter and younger than all his classmates. He doesn’t expect to fall in love with Bucky and his boyfriend Steve.
7) Howard, Bucky, & Steve were an established threesome during the war. Howard wasn’t trying the replicate the serum and therefore, Bucky was never sent to kill him, and Howard Stark is still alive when Steve gets found (either Maria has already passed away or she and Howard have divorced - no infidelity please). Tony gets his entire worldview turned upside down when Howard & Steve pick things back up, as it explains Howard’s obsession with Steve. There’s a whole lot of drama when Steve learns about Operation Paperclip, but it leads them to getting Bucky back.
8) Endgame Everyone Lives AU: Steve takes Bucky with him to return the stones, and then they go back to 1971 to be with Howard (just in case “changing the past doesn’t change the future” isn’t completely true, they don’t want to prevent Tony from ever being born).
9) Changing the Past Does Change the Future AU: Howard spent years trying to invent time travel in an attempt to go back and prevent Bucky from falling and Steve from crashing the plane. He stops when Maria gets pregnant with Tony so that he doesn’t prevent his son from being born. After Infinity War, they build on this research to go back, destroy the Tesseract and fix a bunch of other stuff so Howard, Bucky, and Steve get there happily ever after and Tony still exists.
Howard Stark/Peggy Carter/Steve Rogers
Howard and Steve are sneaking around during the war. Originally Peggy covers for them, and eventually becomes part of the relationship.
Howard Stark/Steve Rogers
This is one of my guilty pleasure pairings and I have so many ideas. The one thing I ask is that if your story includes the years of 1970 or later, that Tony still exists.
1) When money is short, Steve and Bucky resort to prostitution to get by. Steve ends up getting picked up by Howard and it becomes an exclusive arrangement in the interest of discretion. Things get awkward when Steve becomes part of Project Rebirth.
2) Howard is just as drawn to Steve during the early phases of Project Rebirth, but knows he can’t start something literally under the Army’s nose. And then after Steve rescues Bucky et al, Howard assumes that Steve and Bucky are boyfriends. Eventually they pull their heads out of their asses and get together.
3) Howard is the one that answers the radio call and tells Steve that the serum means he won’t freeze to death in the water before they can get to him and convinces him to jump out of the Valkyrie before it crashes and then they pull Steve out of the ocean and everyone lives happily ever after.
4) Howard actually finds Steve and the Valkyrie and then they thaw Steve out and everyone lives happily ever after.
5) Steve and Howard were in a relationship in the 1940s, hence Howard’s obsession with finding Steve. Events between 1945 and 2011 play out differently and Howard is still alive when they find Steve. Either Howard and Maria have gotten divorced or Maria is deceased, so Steve and Howard pick up where they left off, much to Tony’s horror.
6) When Steve returns the stones at the end of Endgame, he stays in the past to be with Howard. He picks the year 1971 to make sure that he doesn’t prevent Tony from being born.
7) An Infinity War Fix-It/Endgame AU where changing the past does actually change the future. Steve goes back to 1991 to rescue Bucky, save Howard, and destroy the Tesseract all in one fell swoop. Is takes them a few years to find the Tesseract because it’s with the Scrulls, and probably a couple more to Howard & Tony to figure out how to destroy it. The ripple effect makes for a much more peaceful world as Loki never attacks New York because the tesseract is already destroyed. There’s also the issue of two Steves existing at the same time, especially since one is frozen on the bottom of the ocean. I’ll leave how that is dealt with open to interpretation as long as it’s resolved with a happy ending. I wouldn’t mind seeing Tony/Rhodey as a side pairing, but that’s not a requirement.
8) An Endgame AU where “changing the past doesn’t change the future” means that they can pluck Howard out of the past, bring him to the present, and Tony’s life and memories are exactly the same. If any questions how that’s actually possible, the answer is “because science.” Bonus points if Howard is plucked from a point in time where he’s younger than present-day Tony.
James “Bucky” Barnes/Sam Wilson/Steve Rogers
Give me anything post-Winter Soldier. Canon divergence (ignoring CW, IW, and Endgame) preferred.
James “Bucky” Barnes/Steve Rogers
Stucky is one of my favorite ships and I don’t care what canon says, there is no way in hell that after everything Steve went through to save Bucky that he would just leave him behind to go and be with Peggy. A few ideas:
1) Steve and Bucky in the late 1930s/early 1940s before WWII and the US Army intervene. This could be a getting together or an established relationship fic, I’m not picky.
2) Sneaking around in a war zone to be intimate with each other. I’m fine with Peggy and/or Howard and/or the Commandos busting them as long as they’re fine with it and help them keep their secret.
3) 1940s everyone lives AU where they both go home after the war. How do they readjust to civilian life. How do they explain away the fact that Steve is twice the size he used to be?
4) Post-Winter Soldier AU where Sam and Steve find Bucky before the events of Civil War can ever happen.
5) Civil War AU where Tony already knew that Hydra had his parents killed because Steve wasn’t a fucking coward and therefore that epic Stucky vs. Tony fight does not happen. Tony helps hide them from the government and fix Bucky and Bucky doesn’t have to go into cryo and Steve and Bucky have lots of quality time together.
6) Endgame AU where Steve stays in 2023 and he and Bucky live happily ever after.
James “Bucky” Barnes/Tony Stark
Definitely frenemies to lovers here. I think it works best as a Civil War AU where Tony finds out the truth about that happens to his parents in a less volatile, traumatic way. maybe something where they’re fighting their feelings for each other because of what happened in the past.
Natasha Romanov/Steve Rogers
My introduction to the MCU was Captain America: The Winter Soldier, so that is my launching point for this ship. I’m good with taking things AU at any point in canon after that and definitely ignore whatever Age of Ultron tried to do with Nat and Bruce (I adore Bruce, but still no). The best starting points I see for them getting together is a) during Winter Soldier, b) right after Winter Soldier, or c) between the end of Black Widow and the beginning of Infinity War, but I’m open to other ideas as well. I’d love to see Nat having to deal with her past to be able to have a healthy relationship to Steve, think she’s dealt with everything, and then something else rears it’s ugly head and they have to start all over again.
Sam Wilson/Steve Rogers
Sam and Steve clearly become close post-Winter Soldier. I’d love to see how that evolves into them being lovers.
Natasha Romanov
With Natasha, we’re just going to pretend that Infinity War/Endgame didn’t happen and everyone is alive and well. I’d love to see how she goes from leaving her “Red Room family” at the end Black Widow to re-joining her “Avengers family” at the beginning of Infinity War. They make it obvious that’s what she’s doing without giving any details, so I’d love to see those details.
Tony Stark
Tony is another character where Infinity War/Endgame didn’t happen and nobody died and everyone is fine. Like Steve, Tony has a lot of unresolved PTSD issues that I’d love to see explored. A couple other options would be coming to terms with how his parents actually died or an AU where Steve actually tells him the truth about Howard & Maria Stark’s deaths and then he comes to terms with it in a way that doesn’t splinter the team.
Sherlock
Gregory Lestrade/Mycroft Holmes
I’ve seen the first two seasons of Sherlock so many times, I don’t even remember what started me shipping these two. I’d love to see how their relationship started - if you follow canon and Lestrade’s divorce then Sherlock is probably the reason they first met, but I’m also very much open to AUs where Lestrade lets Sherlock consult on his cases because of his relationship with Mycroft.
Star Wars
Finn/Poe Dameron
I shipped them from the moment they both realized the other was still alive and the fact that Oscar Isaac wanted them to be a thing, makes me love them even more. I’d love to see how their relationship progresses across the trilogy and where they go from there. You can follow canon and keep Han, Luke, and Leila all passing, or you can throw that out the window where everyone lives.
Han Solo/Lando Calrissian
Han and Lando definitely hooked up in their younger days. I’d love to see that explored.
Han Solo/Leia Organa
I grew up with the Young Jedi Knights series and prefer that over what the Sequel Trilogy gave us. I’d love to see them building their lives together after the dust settles from defeating the Empire.
Han Solo/Luke Skywalker
I’d love to see either stolen moments during the Original Trilogy or them figuring out the how to balance their relationship with their post-Rebellion lives.
Leia Organa & Luke Skywalker
I’d love to see Luke & Leia getting to know each other as siblings, especially since their upbringings were so drastically different.
Leia Organa
I haven’t seen Obi-Wan Kenobi yet because I’m so far behind on television, so please don’t reference anything specific from the show, but I know the gist of things. Something set between that and the start of a New Hope would be awesome.
Something set during the three years between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back or the year between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi would also be awesome. (Even if I am going, WTF did it really take them a whole year to rescue Han?). Or something after Return of Jedi in building up the New Republic.
I grew up with the Young Jedi Knights book series, so ignoring the Sequel Trilogy is totally fine.
If you want to go canon compliant with The Force Awakens:
1) Leia dealing with her son following in her father’s footsteps.
2) Leia dealing with losing Han.
I’d prefer ignoring the whole Leia dying part, even though it was a necessary evil of losing Carrie Fisher.
