Dear CharactOR Exchange Author
May. 9th, 2023 10:56 pmThank you so much for writing for me. I’m excited to see what you come up with.
Genre thoughts: I love both the fluffiest of fluff and the smuttiest of smut. I don’t expect to see both in the same fic, but if you can make it work, power to you. I have a complicated relationship with angst - it’s fine if there’s some there, but I prefer it conclude with a happy ending. Occasionally, I’m good with an overall darker tone, depending on circumstance, so I’ll mention that under a specific request where it applies.
Character death thoughts: Permanently killing a main character is a big fat DNW for me. Referencing the death of a minor character is okay, as long as it’s not a primary plot point. Basically - fic opens at a funeral or passing reference to someone that died before the events of the story, okay. Minor character dying in the middle of the story, DNW. Temporary character death is okay, as long as the resurrection occurs by the end of the story. A few of the characters in my requests are dead in canon, so that’s one fix-it option. The one exception to permanent character death is Force ghosts, so there will be a little of that below under Star Wars.
Pregnancy/kid fics: Yes please. I adore all sorts of kid fics. While I’m okay with mpreg as a general concept, I don’t want to see it in every fandom or with every ship, and I doesn’t fit with anything that I’m requesting here.
SFW DNWS: on screen-death of any character, permanent death of a major character (unless otherwise specified under the specific request), angsty endings
NSFW DNWS: dub-con/non-con, extreme kink, body fluids not meant to be involved in sex
CSI: NY
Danny Messer
I haven’t watched CSI: NY in ages and jumped on the chance to request and offer to give myself an excuse to rewatch. Danny was one of my favorites pretty much from the first episode that I watched (I started in season 4 and then went back to the beginning). While I have nothing against Danny/Lindsay, it’s not my preferred ship, so I prefer that there not be a focus on their relationship in the story. Danny/Flack is my preferred ship if you want to reference it, but I’m also 100% fine with gen fic.
A few thoughts, but I’ll be happy with pretty much anything:
1) A deeper exploration of Danny’s back-story. Unless there’s something I’m forgetting they’ve kept it pretty high level.
2) Something revolving around Danny and his mental state after Ruben’s death in season 4. This is something the show could have gone a lot deeper in addressing.
3) Anything showing the progression of Danny’s career after the end of the show.
Marvel Cinematic Universe
Bucky Barnes
Bucky is one of the characters where I’m okay with things getting a little darker, given what canon has done to my poor baby. A few things that I’d love to see:
1) Something exploring the Winter Soldier’s time under Hydra’s control. We see glimpses of getting his memories back in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, so it would be interesting to see some other instances over the years where that happens.
2) Anything set between Captain America: The Winter Solider and Captain America: Civil War where Bucky is learning to be Bucky again.
3) More of Bucky in Wakanda.
4) Bucky learning to live without Steve after Avengers: Endgame.
Carol Danvers
I adore Carol and you can pretty much do no wrong. That being said, I’d love to something either A) between Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame or b) between Avengers: Endgame and The Marvels.
Maria Hill
I’d love to what what the actual Maria has been up to given that the Maria in Spider-Man: Far From Home was actually one of the Skrulls.
Natasha Romanov
With Natasha, we’re just going to pretend that Infinity War/Endgame didn’t happen and everyone is alive and well. I’d love to see how she goes from leaving her “Red Room family” at the end Black Widow to re-joining her “Avengers family” at the beginning of Infinity War. They make it obvious that’s what she’s doing without giving any details, so I’d love to see those details.
Sam Wilson
Two possible directions I’d love to see you go with Sam:
1) Something between losing Riley and his introduction in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. How did he end up working for the VA? How did he deal with his own PTSD?
2) Adjusting to being the new Captain America. (Before we get new canon that invalidates everything.)
Steve Rogers
I hate the end of Steve’s arc with a passion, so please don’t go there. Part of this arc in four different movies is “do stupid shit to save Bucky,” so he’s not going to up and leave Bucky behind, not even to be with Peggy. That is my hill that I’m willing to die on.
That being said, I’d love to see a deeper exploration of Steve’s mindset during the “do stupid shit to save Bucky” arcs. You can take it from a BFFs gen perspective or from a Stucky perspective.
A couple other options would be adjusting to life in the present day since that’s pretty well glossed over. Also Steve definitely has PTSD that I don’t think he’s dealing with at all, so something around that would be awesome too.
Tony Stark
Tony is another character where Infinity War/Endgame didn’t happen and nobody died and everyone is fine. Like Steve, Tony has a lot of unresolved PTSD issues that I’d love to see explored. A couple other options would be coming to terms with how his parents actually died or an AU where Steve actually tells him the truth about Howard & Maria Stark’s deaths and then he comes to terms with it in a way that doesn’t splinter the team.
Numb3rs
Charlie Eppes
I’d love to see more of Charlie’s college professor day job. Also any sort of family moments. I’d prefer Amita not be part of the story in any way.
Colby Granger
I started watching the show right after the revelation that Colby was a triple agent, so I would love to see something exploring that. That being said, Colby has always been my favorite character, so I would be happy with literally anything.
Don Eppes
One of my favorite episodes is “Manhunt,” so I’d love to see something that explore Don’s fugitive recovery days and his relationship with Coop (I’m good with platonic or shippy there.)
Smallville
Clark Kent
I’d love to see something set in the space between the time jump between the majority of the finale and the very end. How does this version of Clark fully become Superman? I don’t want to see any references to Arrowverse or Clark giving up his powers.
Lois Lane
As with Clark above, I’d love to see something set in the time jump between the majority of the finale and the very end. A deeper exploration of her backstory before she comes to Smallville in season 4 would be awesome too.
Tess Mercer
I was wary about the direction Smallville would take in the post-Lex era, but I ended up falling in love with Tess pretty much instantly. I’d love to see either a further exploration of her back-story or a post-finale AU where she’s still alive and Lex still has his memories.
Star Wars Original Trilogy
Chewbacca
I’d love to see a deeper dive of Chewbacca’s backstory beyond what is shown in the movies. I’d also love to see something set between the Original Trilogy and the Sequel Trilogy. Something set after the Original Trilogy that pretends the Sequel Trilogy doesn’t exist is awesome.
Han Solo
I grew up on the Young Jedi Nights book series and the Han Solo book trilogy, so from that perspective I have so many issues with Han’s movie arc outside of the original trilogy, so I’m fine with ignoring Solo and the Sequel Trilogy. One thing that I would love to see is what Han was up to between A New Hope and the Empire Strikes Back. There’s a lot of timeline stuff from the OT that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but officially there’s a three year time frame to fill.
Leia Organa
I haven’t seen Obi-Wan Kenobi yet because I’m so far behind on television, so please don’t reference anything specific from the show, but I know the gist of things. Something set between that and the start of a New Hope would be awesome.
Something set during the three years between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back or the year between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi would also be awesome. (Even if I am going, WTF did it really take them a whole year to rescue Han?). Or something after Return of Jedi in building up the New Republic.
Again, I grew up with the Young Jedi Knights book series, so ignoring the Sequel Trilogy is totally fine.
Luke Skywalker
I’d love to see either A) an expansion on his training with Yoda or b) rebuilding the Jedi order. Let’s just pretend the Sequel Trilogy doesn’t exist for anything Luke-centric.
Star Wars Sequel Trilogy
Finn
I’d love to see a) a further exploration of Finn being Force Sensitive, especially since they never actually explicitly stated it on-screen or b) Finn trying to find the family that the First Order took him from.
Han Solo
I have a lot of stuff under the Original Trilogy, but if you want to go canon compliant with The Force Awakens:
1) How Ben turning to the Dark Side pretty much killed Han and Leia’s marriage.
2) Han’s adventures between losing the Falcon and turning up in The Force Awakens.
3) Han was Force Sensitive, so surprise! He’s a Force Ghost. And annoys the hell out of Luke to get him out of exile.
Leia Organa
I have a lot of stuff under the Original Trilogy, but if you want to go canon compliant with The Force Awakens:
1) Leia dealing with her son following in her father’s footsteps.
2) Leia dealing with losing Han.
I’d prefer ignoring the whole Leia dying part, even though it was a necessary evil of losing Carrie Fisher.
Poe Dameron
I’ll take anything with Poe. Do you want to make up a different backstory for him, awesome. An AU where he makes fewer dumb decisions during the movie, great. A post-movies fic exploring where he goes from there, I’d love to see that as well. Anything else you can think of that involves Poe, go for it.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
Bucky Barnes
See the blurb under Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Sam Wilson
See the blurb under Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Sharon Carter
I’d love to see either a) a further exploration of her backstory as Peggy’s great-niece and the lengths she went to conceal that or b) exploring her arc between Captain America: Civil War and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Genre thoughts: I love both the fluffiest of fluff and the smuttiest of smut. I don’t expect to see both in the same fic, but if you can make it work, power to you.
